A couple quick points about my beta review strategy:
- First and foremost, I believe in both honest feedback and constructive criticism. I’ll tell you if I like something as well as if I think something isn’t working and might flow better another way. I always stick to constructive criticism and not veer into rude or offensive comments towards the author. That’s not helpful to anyone! My opinion will always differ from others – something I might not love might resonate well with someone else – and I always keep this in mind when beta reading.
- I like providing comments on grammatical suggestions and will always identify any typos I come across, but if you don’t want me to do this as I read just let me know!
- I read under the fiction genre, mainly thriller, sci-fi, romance, and historical, but try and diversify when I can! That being said, I reserve the right to decline to beta read a book for any reason.
- I try extremely hard not to do this, but I do reserve the right to stop reading if I find the book is not a great fit for me. If this happens for any reason, I will let you know ASAP so you can account for this on your end.
